Appeals Process

Internal Review Program

  • An internal review is completed if the client, does not agree with the decision of the case manager.
  • The client, must request the internal review in writing within thirty days of the decision.
  • The Case Presenting Officer is neutral and was not involved in the initial Case Manager's decision.
  • The Case Presenting Officer must make a decision within ten (10) days of the request for an internal review and the decision must be completed in writing.
  • If the client still does not agree with the decision, they can then appeal to the Social Benefits Tribunal (SBT) and they can also request Interim Assistance (Financial assistance until a decision is made)
  • If the client loses the appeal, the Interim Assistance must be repaid
